How to get rid of water retention- from eating too much salt?

Yesterday- Thanksgiving, I ate WAY too much salty food. Today I feel very bloated and puffy… my rings won’t come off my fingers, my pants feel very tight, and my eyes feel like they are going to swell shut- I have been chugging water all day long but with little relief… what else can I do?

Relax, don’t stress yourself about it. Stress will add to the affects. Keep drinking fluids…because right now you are overloaded on salt and your body is tyring to maintain homeostasis by using osmosis to get the concentration of salt in the Extracellular fluid to equal that of all of your cells. so you must keep bringing in water to do this. Using coffee or other diruretics will only prolong this process…stressing your body even more. You are doing exactly what hsould be done by drinking lots of liquids and relaxing.

Make a strong tea with parsley. Does not taste too good but works.

coffee is a natural diuretic! if you can bear to drink a couple of cups that will help

So far, you’re doing everything right! Uping your fluids will do the trick. However, you must stop the soda’s, caffiene and junk. Just start drinking water and your body will eventually start to shift into high gear. You can add cranberry and orange juice (read the labels for sneaky sugars!). I also found that herbal teas tend to make you "go". Also, rest! Prop your feet up above your heart level and enjoy some music! I know the food was good, but the after-effects can be miserable! Have a Blessed Weekend!

Limit your salt intake to just the food you eat without adding any at the table. Consume a moderate amount of water; just enough to make you go the bathroom 5-6 times a day. Your urine should be straw-lemonade color.

workout hard so you sweat, you will realase alot fo salts when you sweat.

If you dont want to workout then go to a sona or steam room, or even a long hot shower.
