What could cause constant burping and stomach pain after eating?

I find myself burping a lot lately throughout the day and anytime I eat a decent sized meal my stomach hurts (upper area). Pain lasts for several hours and some times are more severe than others. What could this be?
Douglas, thanks. I do have a herniated disc in the middle of my back so this could also make it worse as you mentioned with the back. I will see if I can relieve it with your method.

  1. Have you been tested for ulcers? Those can cause excessive burping, stomach pain, and vomiting/defecating blood.

  2. It’ll be indigestion but it’s caused by tight muscles in your back that are pressing against the nerves going to your stomach which is allowing more gastric acid to be released than you need. You can get rid of the extra acid by freeing up your back muscles to get the pressure off the nerves and here’s how to do that:
(do while sitting on a chair)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front, and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm as straight as possible. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, then release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

  3. more than likely just indegestion. if you’re eating a lot of foods you aren’t used to eating, then that’s probably what it is.
